Are the "feet" of the pulpit at the foot of the cross?

Ever thought seriously why so few are willing to hear the Gospel and an even a fewer number respond? Pogo once said, “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”

I am persuaded the “Christian” populace is so far removed from REAL Christianity that the world laughs, and even jeers, at the whole concept of being Christian. The question I want to place before us is this, how difficult is it to live godly and be biblical?

It is a joke for us to say we are inerrantists when we live so little of what we say we believe. Over the years, I have observed “church” people who were as mean and hard as any pagan. I have seen staff members lie and cheat a congregation because they did not work hard and I am confident they were not called.

Why are we where we are? Could it be that many shepherds are a profile of Ezek. 34? Are today’s shepherds feeding themselves? Are there shepherds who do not care for the sheep and treat them as if they were tools to use as they pleased?

Who are we really? Are we imitators of the Chief Shepherd? Do we really love the sheep and care for them as He cares for and gave Himself up for us? Pastor, we have a tremendous responsibility to feed, lead, and guide the flock. As Jesus was an example (model) of servanthood (John 13), are we?

We will never have revival if the leaders of the Christian community do not fall on their faces and repent of their pompous, arrogant, and self-indulgent attitudes. The majority of our church problems lie at the foot of the pulpit...will we confess and repent? May God deliver us from ourselves.
